Small Arms Review's very own Chris Choat is at SHOT Show 2014 this week in Las Vegas, Nevada! Every day Chris will be updating us all on the interesting products he runs into at the show.

At SHOT Show 2014 Sig Sauer (www.sigsauer.com) has introduced a revolutionary new 5.56 rifle called the SIG556xi. The new rifle is multi-caliber with a quick change barrel system. The guns upper receiver is the registered part so the lower can be changed from a standard lower that accepts any mil-spec AR-15 magazine to their Russian style lower that accepts standard AK magazines. Forearms are available in either aluminum or carbon fiber and are rail adaptable. Stocks can also be instantly changed from the original Sig folding type to an M4 style in seconds. Calibers that will be available are 5.56, 7.62 X 39 and 300 Blackout. Barrels will come in 10, 14.5 and 16 inch lengths.

Rhino Arms (www.rhinoarms.com) is coming out with a new 12 gauge. The Rhino Arms 12 gauge will feature upper and lower billet receivers, has a 3 inch chamber and uses either 5 or 10 round stainless steel box magazines. The complete upper can also be ordered separately and will fit on their .308 lowers as well as others. It will have an 18.5 inch barrel, Ergo pistol grip and a MagPul PRS stock. The new gun has an adjustable gas system that will even cycle trap loads.

Desert Tech (www.deserttech.com), formerly known as Desert Tactical Arms has expanded their rifle line with the new MDR rifle. This new rifle is a bullpup design that is multi caliber including .223, 300 Blackout, 7,62 X 39, 6.8 SPC, and .308!!. The gun is completely ambidextrous and has a quick change barrel system. The guns magwell features an adapter so the gun can accept standard AR type magazines as well as .308 PMag style magazines. Shown in this photo is the rifle set up in .223 with a short 10.5 inch barrel and is called the MDR-C. The gun is truly ambidextrous and ejects the empty brass forward through a hole in the ejection port door.

Heckler & Koch (www.heckler-koch-us.com) has introduced a new model of their famed MP-5 submachine gun in honor of the gun reaching its 50th birthday. The new gun features the same gun that is known for its utter reliability but in a new fancier package. The new model is called the MP-5 A3 MLI (Mid Life Improvement). It’s features include a quick attach optic rail with a new optic, a modular handguard with replaceable rail sections and a new tan RAL8000 finish that provides better corrosion protection and the coloring also has low IR visibility properties.

Combined Systems Inc. (www.combinedsystems.com), was on hand displaying their new Venom® and V-Series™ enhanced non-lethal deployment modules capable of delivering a variety of payloads. The new launchers are capable of delivering smoke, flashbang, stingball, smoke and irritants from either 37 or 40 mm grenades. They are fired electronically at a rate of around 200 rounds per minute.

Tactical Solutions (www.tacticalsol.com) introduced their new TSAR-300 which is a 300 Blackout upper receiver for the AR-15 series rifles. The new upper provides the versatility of an SBR without the cost and red tape of NFA paperwork. Suppressors fit inside a permanently attached shroud that bring the upper to legal length. The upper is full-auto rated and comes complete with a mil-spec bolt carrier group and a dummy suppressor.

Sarsilmaz, a Turkish company, is selling a line of guns through their US company SAR Arms (www.sararms.com). These include handguns and shotguns but they may also start producing a line of 9mm and .223 carbines here in the US. The 9mm carbine is called the SAR 109 and the .223 gun is called the SAR 223. Both guns will be available in semi-auto as well as select-fire for LE and military.

Remington (www.remington.com) introduced a new handgun that has created quite a buzz at this years SHOT Show. It’s their new R51 subcompact 9mm pistol. The pistol has a grip safety and ambidextrous magazine release. It comes with 2 7- round magazines. It has a unique low bore axis that produces less muzzle rise and reduces felt recoil. It has a light slide racking force making it easier to chamber and clear rounds. The gun has smooth, rounded edges making it a great concealed carry gun and it can fire +P ammunition. There is a model with a Crimson Trace laser and optional accessories will include custom grip panels and a threaded barrel.

Plinker Arms, formerly Plinker Tactical, (www.plinkerarms.com) is now making a complete line of AR-15 .22 rifles as well as complete uppers in .22 LR. They are available in a 12.5 inch, a 16.5 inch threaded barrel and a 16.5 inch bull barrel model. These new rifles and uppers will accept the proven Plinker Tactical magazines. They are also now making AR-15 magazines in 10 and 30 round capacities as well as a new 30-round AK 47 magazine.
