A primary feature of the GTI 4.5 is the high-traction, textured olive drab hefty 5-¼ inch long Micarta handle. The deeply textured handle design provides a no-slip grip, regardless of conditions or use of gloves.

Along with the no-slip, high-traction leverage Micarta handle it has a finger cutout forward of the guard for extra-heavy cutting chores. The black finish is Ionbond, a process which deposits incredibly robust diamond-like carbon through a molecular vapor deposited technique that will not peel, crack or chip and adds no thickness to the blade.
