Buffer Technologies Business Profile

By Dan Shea

Larry Bullock from Buffer Technologies is a real go-getter. Just about every weekend he can be seen at a gun show somewhere in America, and one has to wonder where he finds the time to follow through with his very successful overseas orders. Larry has landed some excellent contracts for his buffers around the world.

I recently spoke with Larry at Knob Creek, and purchased some of his “Star” products today- items he wanted to tell people about. I thought it would be good to pass this info on to SAR readers.

First, the Mag Cinch. Real basic, real sturdy, and real effective. This is a two piece system for doubling mags. It is extremely light, and Buffer Tech makes it for the M16/AR15 system, including a set for the 9mm guns. In fact, they offer it for most high cap mags. I was impressed that they offered it for the Mini 14 as well- a rifle that often gets overshadowed by other systems. This was simple to install, and easy to use. Reading the directions is recommended of course, improper alignment might keep these from doing their job. Basically, the Mag Cinch system is a lightweight alternative to mag doublers that can mar the surfaces of your valuable high cap mags, and it is sturdy as well. I bought the M16 model, as well as the 9mm model for my MP5. Simple to assemble, inexpensive at $17.95 Pouches for M16 and 9mm magazines. The Mag Cinch system has an extra bonus when carrying multiple mag sets- it is extremely quiet in the mag pouch. Eagle Industries makes double pouches and single pouches for the rifle and SMG caliber magazines, and it is the first time I have had an effective, quiet pouch system for the MP5 that would hold two double magazine sets.

The Glock 18 buffer

I have used other Buffer Tech buffers in rifle caliber machine guns, and been quite pleased. These are not limited to machine guns, of course, they do help smooth out most “assault rifles”. This high speed machine pistol can benefit from the Buffer Technologies “Glock” buffer. Larry’s description sums it up best: “It eliminates the metal slide from impacting the polymer frame. This repeated impact batters the frame where the two parts come into contact. Stopping this battering is accomplished by inserting the buffer between the recoil spring and the slide. Each time the action is worked or the weapon is fired the buffer comes into contact with the frame, not the metal slide. Installation of the Glock Recoil Buffer will result in reduced felt recoil, enhanced muzzle control and a longer service life. The Glock Recoil Buffer will fit models 17, 17L, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 24C, 31 and 32”. Very simple to install, and very reasonably priced at $9.95 each.
